Mosimann: “Sharing The Stage With The Next Generation Is Something Special”

We simply couldn’t miss catching up with Mosimann at Tomorrowland. After experiencing his unforgettable residency at Cova Santa Ibiza, he has become one of our absolute favourite artists. This time, the French producer first took over the Freedom Stage with a special B2B performance alongside rising young talent Elfigo, and later delivered another explosive solo set that completely lit up the JBL Stage. A true musical powerhouse, Mosimann is far more than just a DJ. The French artist has built an impressive career as a producer, singer, songwriter and performer, becoming one of electronic music’s most versatile names. Known for blending live vocals, keyboards and DJing into one energetic performance, he has played the world’s biggest festivals and clubs while continuously pushing creative boundaries. At Tomorrowland, we caught up with him to talk about his return to the festival, his Ibiza residency, his underground techno project Traumwerk, and why sharing the stage with the next generation of artists is so important to him.

Interview With Mosimann:

I am so excited right now because we’re meeting with Mosimann again. How are you?

I’m good. I’m tired, but I’m so happy to be here.

I’m tired as well. Yesterday there was a huge party here. Were you here?

No, I just arrived now, but I’ve been here a few times already.

How many times have you been to Tomorrowland?

Actually, now that I think about it, it’s my second time. I was here maybe eight years ago. I played on a small stage. And now I’m back to play on the Freedom Stage with Elfigo and on the JBL Stage. I’m super happy, really. It’s a dream come true.

I’m actually very curious about your back-to-back set because Elfigo is very, very young, right? How old is he?

I think he’s about 15, and he’s really, really nice. He’s very talented. I thought it would be nice to share this experience together and create a very special moment. He’s young, but he’s got so many great skills. I’m also a little bit stressed and nervous because we’re supposed to go on stage in less than an hour, and we haven’t planned the setlist yet. So at some point we’re going to have to sit down and see what we can do.

How did this collaboration actually happen?

I invited him to play at my residency in Ibiza at Cova Santa for the closing on the 12th of September. We stayed in touch, and he asked me to play a B2B with him. I said, “Are you sure? You’re playing on the Freedom Stage and you want to do a B2B with me?” He was like, “Yeah, sure. Let’s do it together.” So it’s really like a big brother–little brother thing, and I’m super happy to share that with him.

It’s beautiful. We definitely can’t miss it. Well, you mentioned Ibiza, so how’s your residency at Cova Santa going?

It’s so cool. You’ve been there. You were there last time. It’s so cool. The vibe is amazing. I mean, that’s Ibiza, you know. You can play whatever you want. You can create a cool vibe and really connect with the crowd. And thanks to Cova Santa, I also have the opportunity to play on the 29th of July at Amnesia for the Resistance party in the Main Room. That’s something special too.

You’re switching styles, and you also have your underground techno project. What’s the vision behind it?

The vision behind Traumwerk… You can check it online if you want. There’s this project called Traumwerk. The idea is to release two songs a month without asking myself any questions. I just go into the studio, produce music, and I don’t think, “Is this going to work for the audience, the crowd, the label, the radio, or whatever?” I just produce it and release it.

And you released your EP yesterday. Is that correct?

Absolutely, yes. It’s a special EP because it’s my summer EP, and it’s only techno. I hope you guys are going to like it.

We definitely have to listen to it. So, what’s your message for Tomorrowland, the People of Tomorrow?

Book me on the Mainstage, guys! Yeah, that’s definitely a must for next year.

Thank you so much, Mosimann, for staying with us, and have fun!

Thank you so much. Take care. Bye, guys!
