Max Styler’s Nu Moda Returns With ‘Nexus 003’ Compilation

Max Styler’s Nu Moda label is back with the third instalment of its ‘Nexus’ compilation series. Titled ‘Nexus 003’, the six-track release brings together Broken Hill, Talón, ROWSEN, blaktone, Fur Coat & Morab, and NO STATIC for a collection moving between tech house, indie dance and disco. The compilation is available to stream now across all platforms.

Since launching Nu Moda, Max Styler has been developing the imprint into a platform for forward-thinking electronic music and emerging sounds. The ‘Nexus’ series reflects that direction, bringing together producers with different approaches to club music while maintaining a common thread across each release.

‘Nexus 003’ opens with Broken Hill’s ‘On Top’, a track that combines tech house foundations with indie dance influences. The Los Angeles-based producer, who is also a trained audio engineer and analogue gear enthusiast, spent six months refining the track through his DJ sets. Sharp synths, shifting chords, distorted vocals and subtle woodwind melodies are joined by lively bongos, creating a groove that sets the tone for the compilation.

“‘On Top’ pulls from my favorite parts of indie dance and tech house and lands somewhere right in the middle. I’ve been testing it in my sets for the last six months, and it’s become a super versatile club weapon for me.”

Talón follows with ‘The King’, built around bright synths, a driving four-on-the-floor bassline and crisp hi-hats. A male vocal leads into an acid-influenced breakdown, adding another dimension to the track. ROWSEN then takes things in a disco-inspired direction with ‘No Time For That’, pairing a female vocal with an atmospheric build and a punchy synth breakdown. The darker groove of blaktone’s ‘Cable Bugs’ comes next. Driven by a crunchy bassline and rolling synths, the track breaks into a spoken-word passage before a playful melody takes the lead in its second drop.

“‘The King’ was conceived during one of the most challenging periods of my life. The track symbolizes reclaiming my power, rediscovering my identity, and turning adversity into strength. For me, it was about taking the raw emotion of those two difficult years and transforming it into pure dance floor energy, almost like a character in a video game unlocking a new level of power. Ultimately, I hope this track gives others that same sense of strength, direction, and empowerment, reminding them that even through the most difficult times, they have the ability to rise above it all and come out stronger.”

Fur Coat & Morab bring a different energy with ‘Delano Nights’, balancing a full bassline with feel-good melodies and atmospheric synths. The compilation closes with ‘Party Jumpin’, a collaboration between NO STATIC and vocalist Max Cardona. Confident repeating vocals, a bouncy bassline, shimmering synths and chopped samples give the final track its club-focused character.

“I’ve known Morab for years — he was on my label back on his previous project. Our paths have crossed many times since, and we always talked about doing a collab. Now, finally, one has come along that brings us together again.”

Morab shares a similar perspective on how the collaboration came about:

“I’ve known Fur Coat for years. We talked about collaborating many times, until I sent him the first idea for ‘Delano Nights.’ Now, finally, one has come along that brings us together.”

Beyond the music, ‘Nexus 003’ also highlights the individual journeys and creative approaches behind the six productions. Broken Hill has been building his presence across the indie dance and house scenes, with releases on labels including BLOND, WELKER, Familiar Faces and DvirNuns. He has also delivered remixes for Kevin McKay and Phantoms, while his track ‘Goat’ reached No. 1 on Beatport’s Indie Dance chart. His music has received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and support from artists including Four Tet, Solomun, Adam Ten, Enamour, Super Flu and Innellea.

ROWSEN explains the inspiration behind ‘No Time For That’:

“I wanted to bring that old-school house feeling into something a bit more modern. A cheeky bassline and a groove that does the work, combined with a rap-style vocal to tie it all together.”

– says ROWSEN

For blaktone, ‘Cable Bugs’ was an opportunity to experiment with a different approach:

“‘Cable Bugs’ is a kind of experiment for us. Each of our tracks is a journey and a new incredible experience for us and our listeners, and this track is no exception.”

‘Delano Nights’ also brings together two artists with a history of crossing paths. Fur Coat and Morab have known each other for years, and the collaboration finally came together after several conversations about working together.

Closing the release, NO STATIC describes ‘Party Jumpin’ as a reflection of the sound developed over the past year:

“This track embodies the sound that I have been pushing toward the last year, a solid blend of tech house and indie dance, with a memorable vocal and super catchy synth line.”
