We met Chelsea Domenica at Lío Ibiza just before one of the opening parties, “Collapse.” Tonight, she will perform alongside Alex Kennon and Yulia Niko, bringing her blend of house, disco house, and tech house to the island. Growing up in a musical family in the Netherlands, Chelsea’s journey has taken her from festival stages and international clubs to Ibiza residencies, where she developed her signature fusion of DJing and live vocals. More than just a performer, she creates music built on emotion, connection, and atmosphere. Dive into the conversation with this beautiful soul.

Interview With Chelsea Domenica:
How are you feeling, and how excited are you for tonight at Lío?
I’m doing really well. I’m super excited, and honestly, a little nervous too, because, of course, it’s Lío Ibiza. But I can’t wait for tonight. It’s opening weekend, so the energy is going to be huge. Lío is known for hosting some of the biggest opening events on the island, and I think this year feels even more special because it’s the last season at the marina location. That makes performing here during opening weekend extra meaningful.
Have you performed here before, or is this your first time?
I’ve been here many times before, but I’ve actually never performed at Lío. So tonight will be my first time performing here as both a DJ and vocalist, which makes it even more exciting. I’ll also be adding live vocals during my DJ set to bring something extra to the performance. Lío is famous for its entertainment during dinner service, and later the venue transforms into a club. I’ll start my set at midnight, blending DJing with live vocals throughout the performance.
So yes… no pressure at all. laughs
You combine DJing with live vocals. How did that all start? Were you a singer first or a DJ first?
Singing definitely came first. I started performing when I was around 17 years old, mainly as a vocalist and MC in clubs around Amsterdam, performing alongside DJs.
I used to improvise live vocals over existing tracks and create live mashups by mixing different lyrics and melodies together. A few years later, I realized I wanted more control over my own sets and musical direction.
Then, during an eight-month trip to Australia in 2014, I started DJing — and that’s really where everything came together. Since then, I’ve been combining DJing with live vocals, which allows me to fully shape the energy and atmosphere of my sets.
What I love most is having the freedom to control the music while adding emotional moments through live vocals. I always believe less is more in a club setting, so I use vocals carefully to enhance the experience rather than overpower it.
Your roots are in the Netherlands, but you moved to Ibiza in 2018. What made you stay on the island?
I think the first thing I noticed is that music truly lives here. The island attracts so many creative people, DJs, artists, and musicians from all over the world. Ibiza has this magnetic energy that naturally pulls creative souls toward it.
Of course, the Netherlands also has an incredible music scene and amazing artists, but Ibiza gives you space to fully explore yourself as an artist. Especially within electronic music — whether it’s house, melodic, deep house, or tech house — there’s so much freedom here to express yourself authentically.
That’s something very special, and I felt connected to it immediately.
So that’s what made you stay?
Yes, definitely.
Let’s talk about tonight again. What kind of energy can the crowd expect from your set?
I think tonight is going to be super energetic. I’ll be opening the night right after the show finishes, so my role is really to create the perfect build-up for the evening.
I want people to feel connected to the music, to dance, and to fully enjoy the atmosphere. I think it’s going to be a very special night.
What kind of crowd usually comes to your shows?
I think people who enjoy glamour, good music, and beautiful energy. Lío is such an iconic venue with one of the most stunning views over Dalt Vila.
There’s also a big Dutch community in Ibiza, so I’m very proud to represent the Netherlands as part of tonight’s lineup. But honestly, Lío attracts people from all over the world. That’s the magic of Ibiza so many cultures and nationalities coming together on one island.
So Collapse is definitely the place to be tonight?
Absolutely. Tonight is going to be something special, so make sure you’re here.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
