Baime: The Level of Success is Intricately Linked to the Amount of Time Invested in.

Hailing from Copenhagen’s gritty underground, Baime push the boundaries of electronic dance music with a deep and ferocious vision. At its core, Baime is a deeply personal, transformative project. In productions and DJ sets, he pushes past the limits of his own reservations. The sound is bold and brash and forges a genre of its own. Baime is, in a word, fearless.

After the project’s inception, Baime quickly rose to fame in the Copenhagen scene, hosting own club nights at Culture Box, KB18, and the legendary IG60 parties with CPH DEEP. Soon after, Baime progressed to the global stage, including appearances at all the biggest Berlin clubs like Watergate and Kater Blau and Ritter Butzke, Dubai’s Soho Garden DBX, the rooftop of the Copenhagen Opera, Northside and Roskilde Festival, Northern Europe’s largest music festival

We had a little interview with Baime:

Hey Baime! Can you walk us through your journey into the world of electronic music and what inspired you to start producing?

Since my teenage years, electronic music has always fascinated me with its intricate details and depth. I learned to play the guitar when I was quite young, later joining a small band. Transitioning from that background and listening to classic trance felt like seeing the world in color for the first time. That’s when I realized I wanted to produce my own tracks.

Who are your major musical influences, and how have they shaped your sound?

Some of my biggest influences stem from old-school Classic Trance/Melodic Trance and artists producing Deep House/Melodic Techno around 2010-2013. When I reflect, I often find myself drawn to artists like Push, Schwarze Puppen, and Ocean Lab.

It’s challenging to articulate how these influences shaped my sound, but I like to believe that some melodic elements transferred from these artists into my work. More than just elements, it’s about capturing the same emotions I felt listening to their music. In the studio, I aim to evoke those feelings. For technical inspiration, I enjoy artists focusing on percussion and groove, as it fuels my creativity and prompts me to explore different drum instrumentation for these grooves.

How has living in Copenhagen, influenced your music and career and how do you see the scene in Denmark in general?

Copenhagen holds a special place in my heart, and its music scene has a unique identity. The Indie Melodic scene is currently thriving, with numerous clubs offering electronic music, making it an excellent city for electronic music artists. Renowned artists like Kölsch, Denis Horvat, Who Made Who and others in my genre have undoubtedly placed the city on the map, enhancing its vibrancy and earning it respect as a hub for artists.

What is the philosophy behind Blindfold Recordings?

It’s quite simple – we only release music that we would personally include in our DJ sets. The styles of the music we release may vary because if it’s effective on the dance floor and resonates with us, it’s what we’re seeking, regardless of the exact genre.

What do you believe is the key factor for success in the electronic dance music industry?

Consistently pushing yourself and maintaining relevance is an evolving journey, acknowledging the fluidity of the process. My personal conviction is rooted in the belief that the level of success one attains is intricately linked to the amount of time and effort invested in their chosen profession. Dedication and continuous engagement in honing one’s skills, coupled with a commitment to staying current in a dynamic environment, contribute significantly to the trajectory of success. In essence, the correlation between the hours devoted to your craft and the subsequent achievements forms a vital foundation for sustained growth and accomplishment.
