Now, dancefloor heater ‘Wait For You’, released via sillygirlcarmen’s Sun & Sound Detroit label, brings together Ryan Sadorus and sillygirlcarmen — two artists representing different yet complementary sides of the city’s evolving electronic music tradition.
Ryan Sadorus, a Detroit-based DJ, producer, and co-founder of BerettaMusic, combines underground authenticity with global reach, blending Japanese influences from his time living in Tokyo with Detroit’s rich musical heritage. His DJ weapon ‘Hot in the D’ EP with Delano Smith received global acclaim, while his productions have earned support from artists including Laurent Garnier and Basement Jaxx. Balancing driving Detroit energy with soulful depth, Ryan continues to perform internationally while representing the city through iconic local venues such as TV Lounge and SPKRBOX, where he hosts the monthly ‘BerettaMusic & Friends’ event.
Detroit’s own sillygirlcarmen aka Carmen Johnson is a DJ, singer, promoter, actress, and label head who has released music on respected imprints including Nervous Records, Popgang Records, and Soul Clap Records. As part of a new generation of Detroit artists putting emotion before technology, she continues to spread the city’s dance music spirit through performances at venues and festivals including TV Lounge, Flash DC, Silo NYC, Djoon Paris, Public Works SF, and Movement. She has shared stages alongside names such as Louie Vega, Moodymann, Will Clarke, Nora En Pure, DJ Minx, Green Velvet, and Eats Everything. Her passionate, high-energy sound blends soulful house emotion with modern club momentum.
