The History of DJing starts all the way back in 1877 with Thomas Edison’s invention of the phonograph which is now known as a record player.

However, the first appearance of the term Disc Jockey only appears in 1935. At the beginning a DJ was someone who selected records to play on the radio or a dance parties. The problem was that when you replaced the record on the turntable with the next song the dancing would stop.

That was until the disgusting human being Jimmy Savile discovered how to use multiple turntables at once in 1957. He could now eliminate the awkward silence by seamlessly swapping from one turntable to the next.
