Interview with KENN COLT

Hello, first of all, I want to thank you for taking the time for this short interview because I understand that you surely have a lot of work.

You have a new release which was launched last month. Could you elaborate on the creative journey behind crafting ‘Chan Chan’ and the specific emotions or messages you intended to convey with this track?

Chan Chan was inspired by my love for Spanish/latin music and the culture. I recently just got back from a 3-month tour in Latin America. During that tour, I finished the production of Chan Chan. I was inspired a lot by their local music, classics and new ones. I also enjoy watching a lot of street musicians! I infused these experiences into the production of the track. Ultimately, I want the listeners who has never been to LATAM countries before to have a glimpse of that experience and for those who has been to LATAM, I want to transport them back to that time.

As the leader of Feels Like Home Records, what is your strategic vision for the label’s future, and how does it align with your artistic principles?

As the owner of Feels like Home Records and an artist myself, my goal is to sign new and upcoming coming artists that are passionate about what they do. We’re committed to supporting talents who aren’t afraid to experiment and innovate. Ultimately, our goal is to keep producing music that brings joy to everyone who listens.

How many upcoming tracks are currently queued for release under Feels Like Home Records, and can you tease any surprises or themes that fans can anticipate?

A lot! Only my productions are stacking up, and have like 6 releases ready and releases from other artists are also on the way, definitely watch out for them! We still have some spots left so still open to listen to new material for now.

Reflecting on your move from Belgium to Spain, how do you believe this geographical transition has impacted the development of your musical style and production approach?

I moved to Spain primarily to have a work-life balance, hence my album BALANCE. When I moved here, I had more time to focus on my music and aside from that I started to like Latin music so I was experimenting a lot and trying to incorporate that into my music.

Many listeners recognize a Latin influence in your music. Do you attribute this primarily to your move to Spain, or do other factors contribute to this aspect of your sound?

Yes, it is very evident in my last releases. I really fell in love with the Latin culture, naturally influencing my musical style as an artist.

What guidance would you offer to young producers?

My advice for aspiring DJs and producers aiming to make their mark in the industry is simple: keep pushing forward and make something that is different than what other DJs are doing. The road to success is not easy but if this is really your dream, work for it and eventually you will get there.

How do you view the emerging trend of artists needing to be active on social media, and in what ways do you think it has reshaped the music industry?

I think it’s a great thing. It’s truly a dream come true to have the ability to reach audiences from all corners of the world and share our music with them. It also help us connect with our audiences easier and build a relationship with them.

Personally, I recognize the immense potential of social media and its importance in today’s society. In fact, I have my own Digital Marketing Agency, Feels Like Home Media, because I firmly believe in the power of leveraging these platforms effectively where my team helps other small and midsize companies with their digital marketing.

You also have a radio show for a long time, and sustaining a long-standing radio show requires commitment. Can you elaborate on the methods you employ to maintain both consistency and innovation in your broadcasts week after week?

It definitely takes dedication and hard work to keep the radio show running. But you know, I love music. I am always on the lookout for new music anyway so sometimes it doesn’t even feel like work for me. It’s a labor of love.  I enjoy it that’s why I was able to maintain it for so long.

If you were to collaborate with an artist from the EDM or outside of the EDM genre, who would be your top choice to work with?

Avicii and Martin Garrix. I love Martin’s vibe, I met him a couple times and is always super friendly and good vibes with him.

Thank you for the interview!
