Few artists have shaped the sound of modern house music as profoundly as Chus & Ceballos. Over nearly three decades, the Spanish duo has become synonymous with the pioneering Iberican Sound, blending tribal rhythms, Latin percussion, and deep grooves into a signature style that has influenced dance floors around the world. Following a five-year hiatus, they return with The Reunion Tour and their new project, Somos Uno—a powerful new chapter built on authenticity, creative growth, and the belief that music remains a universal language capable of bringing people together. In this exclusive interview with LoudLife, Chus & Ceballos reflect on their reunion, the lessons learned from a career spanning three decades, and what lies ahead.
Interview With Chus & Ceballos:
After more than five years, what was the moment that made you realize it was time to create music together again?
There wasn’t a single defining moment; it happened quite organically. We had stayed in touch over the years, and every time we spoke, the conversation inevitably drifted back to music. Eventually, we decided to get into the studio without any expectations or pressure. Within a few hours, it felt as if no time had passed. The chemistry was still there, but with the benefit of five years of personal and creative growth. That’s when we knew this wasn’t just about doing another record; it was the beginning of a new chapter.
Somos Uno translates as “We Are One.” What does this title represent for you personally and musically?
For us, it’s a philosophy more than a title. Throughout our careers we’ve been lucky enough to travel the world, and everywhere we’ve gone we’ve witnessed the same thing: music has an incredible ability to dissolve barriers and create genuine human connection. On a personal level, it also represents our reunion. Two individual journeys coming together again with a renewed perspective. Musically, it reflects everything we’ve always believed in, rhythm as a universal language capable of bringing people together.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your journey in electronic music?
That longevity comes from authenticity, not from chasing trends. Electronic music moves incredibly fast, and every year there’s a new sound or a new formula. We’ve learned that the only sustainable path is to stay curious while remaining true to your own identity. If you’re honest with your music, people can feel it. We’ve also learned that careers are marathons, not sprints, the relationships you build and the respect you earn ultimately matter far more than any single hit record.
What’s one thing people still don’t know about Chus & Ceballos after all these years?
People know us as DJs and producers, but what they don’t always see is how much time we spend talking about music away from the studio. We’re still passionate music fans first. We can spend hours sharing old records, discovering new artists, or discussing production ideas. That curiosity has never disappeared, and we think that’s one of the reasons we’re still excited every time we start a new project.
What does a perfect day look like for you when you’re not playing?
Something very simple. Spending time with family and friends, enjoying good food, getting some exercise, and, of course, listening to music without thinking about work. Touring can be incredibly intense, so the moments we value most are often the quiet ones. Those are the days that help recharge our creativity before heading back into the studio or onto the road again.
Can you share one unforgettable backstage or festival moment that still makes you smile?
There are far too many to choose just one after all these years. But some of our favorite memories aren’t necessarily the biggest festivals; they’re the spontaneous moments backstage where artists from completely different cultures and generations come together, sharing music and ideas without any ego involved. Those conversations have often inspired us just as much as the performances themselves.
What’s one track that still gives you goosebumps whenever you hear it?
That’s almost impossible to answer because it changes all the time. But if we had to choose one timeless record, we’d probably say Sueño Latino by Carolina Damas, a classic record from 1989, a pure blend of Latino Vibes and electronica, Balearic sound at its best!. It still sounds fearless, innovative, and incredibly powerful. It’s one of those records that reminds you why electronic music can be so emotionally intense while remaining so minimal.
What are you most excited about for the rest of 2026?
Continuing to build this new chapter together. The Reunion Tour has reminded us how special this project is not only for us, but for the people who’ve supported us over the years. There’s a lot of new music already in the works, exciting collaborations, and plenty of touring ahead. Our upcoming release is a studio collab with Tony Rios entitled ‘Closer To You’ coming out in October; we’re beyond excited for this one too. More than anything, we’re enjoying creating without looking backward. It feels like we’re writing a brand-new story while carrying everything we’ve learned over the last three decades with us.
