Budapest has countless charms, but last weekend belonged entirely to the Anjunabeats family. Above & Beyond brought their Day & Night concept to the Hungarian capital, and we were there for every moment. It was the kind of event that showcased everything people love about electronic music – emotion, melody, and pure euphoria.

The marathon kicked off at Óbuda Bay, one of Budapest’s most exciting new venues. A covered outdoor stage, great accessibility, modern production – simply the perfect place for a daytime dance session. Low Contrast opened the day at 14:00, easing the crowd into the groove with a warm, melodic set. As more people flowed in, the energy grew naturally and effortlessly. Then came local hero Sunny Lax, whose set completely lifted the atmosphere. Melodic, rhythmic, uplifting – exactly the kind of performance you expect from an Anjunabeats icon. Next up was PROFF, delivering a stunning two-hour journey filled with emotional progressions and expertly crafted sound design. By the time he finished, the stage was fully prepped for the night’s headliners.

Above & Beyond – two hours of pure dance-floor euphoria
At 20:00, the lights dimmed and Paavo Siljamäki and Tony McGuinness stepped on stage. From the very first note, the entire venue erupted. Their set blended tracks from the new album Bigger Than All of Us with timeless classics: “Sun & Moon”, their take on “Blue Monday”, the iconic “We Are All We Need” in Ilan Bluestone’s legendary remix and the timeless “Northern Soul”. The atmosphere was electrifying. No break, no hesitation – just two hours of dancing, smiling, singing, and losing yourself in the music. This was Above & Beyond at their best.

The beloved “Push the Button” moment returned, with a few lucky fans welcomed into the booth to press the legendary button and savor their moment in the spotlight. It’s precisely these small, human moments that make A&B shows linger in your memory long after the night ends.

After 22:00, the crowd made its way to Cinema Hall for the official Anjunabeats afterparty, highlighted by an impressive roster including We Are MOS, a second flawless set from PROFF, Alex Sonata & TheRio, and a closing performance by Sunny Lax.The Night program was darker, more energetic, more club-driven – a perfect contrast to the emotional warmth of the daytime show.
The Day & Night Budapest edition delivered everything we love about Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats: big melodies, big emotions, and a big sense of community. Both venues – Óbuda Bay and Cinema Hall were impressive, the crowd was friendly and united, and the lineup had zero weak spots.
