Interview With Kenn Colt:

Hi Kenn, welcome to Loudlife and congratulations on your new release “Millionaire.” We heard the track was inspired by a funny conversation with your girlfriend about going viral and buying an elephant, which already sounds like quite a story. You’ve also recently moved to Thailand, starting a brand new chapter both in life and in music. How’s the new life treating you so far?

Thank you so much – it really touches me to hear the love for “Millionaire.” It’s out since February 27 on my label Feels Like Home Records, and yes, the elephant story is completely real from one of those late-night talks with my girlfriend. We weren’t dreaming about fame or success – we were talking about more freedom in life, maybe one day moving to a tropical place in Thailand, living a bit slower and warmer. She smiled and said, “Okay, then I want an elephant.” We were just joking around. The next morning I went to the studio and turned that playful, hopeful moment into the hook and the whole track: feel-good beats, catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics about dreaming big while staying close to what really matters – freedom, joy, connection.

As for Thailand – not living there yet! I’m based in Europe, Belgium is where my roots are and where everything started for me. But I’ve been back a few times now, and every visit pulls me in more – the warmth, the nature, the calm energy after all the traveling. It’s inspiring me so much, giving me space to create from a quieter, deeper place. I’m seriously dreaming of making it home one day soon. For now, those trips are like a gentle reset between tours, helping the music feel even more personal and true to who I am.

How about an elephant?  Be honest – were you thinking more about the music… or how expensive elephants are?

Haha, honestly – when she said it, my first thought was how huge this animal is and that we don’t have space to put it anywhere in the garden! So we’d have to be millionaires to even make it work. I went straight to the studio after and found the inspiration for that hook right there. And look, after we actually checked the price of a baby elephant (plus the food, care, everything), I realized we’re not that far off from needing to be millionaires anyway 😉 But seriously, the music came from the heart of that moment – turning a funny, shared dream about more freedom and a tropical life into something motivating with real emotion behind the beats.

Moving to Thailand sounds like a big life reset. What made you decide to escape Europe and start a new chapter there?

It’s not a full move or escape yet – Europe is my base, Belgium my heart and roots. But after years of being constantly on the road and playing shows, I started feeling the need for more balance in life. Thailand keeps drawing me back – the beautiful nature, the culture, the calmer rhythm after the intensity here. Those visits have opened up new inspirations to bring into my Tech House and Latin House sound, while staying true to processing real life moments through music. It’s not about leaving anything behind; it’s dreaming of evolving, finding more depth and peace to fuel what I create. Who knows – it might become home one day soon.

How different is your daily life as a producer in Thailand compared to the typical European DJ lifestyle?

It’s completely different, in a way that’s really refreshing. Back in Europe my days are usually split: I start early with my day job as a system engineer and then I try to squeeze in production whenever there’s a window, mostly late evenings or weekends. Gigs are more on the weekends. Because clubs have been closing down a lot across Europe, it’s quieter on the DJ side and more focused on producing tracks in the little time I have. It’s a constant balance, and it can feel a bit rushed sometimes going from one mode to the other.

When I’m in Thailand on those visits, the rhythm changes completely. I wake up, go for a swim to wake up properly, grab a Thai milk tea and start producing in the morning when the sun rises – often with the sound of waves or just open views. Around 12 or so I have lunch, then I switch to the day job around 1 or 2 PM Thailand time, which lines up nicely with 7 or 8 AM in Europe. That setup gives me real space in the morning to let ideas come naturally without the usual rush. Even though it’s not full-time there yet, those periods recharge me a lot – the music feels more honest because there’s actually time to sit with it and feel what the track needs.

You run your own label Feels Like Home Records. Does releasing music on your own label give you more freedom to experiment?

Yes, it’s truly liberating. I started Feels Like Home back in 2018 and it means I can release exactly what feels true and whatever I want – no compromises, straight from personal stories and emotions. “Millionaire” is a perfect example: motivational, with grooves that carry real meaning. It also lets me support other artists and build a small community around genuine music. That creative freedom makes every release feel special and close to my heart.

DJs spend a lot of time in clubs and airports. Do you still get the same excitement stepping behind the decks as when you started?

Every single time, yes. The goosebumps, the moment the energy builds and the crowd connects – it’s still pure magic. From my early sets to bigger stages over the years… that feeling never fades. It’s about sharing real emotions, seeing people move and feel something deep. That connection is why I keep doing this.

Electronic music trends change fast. Do you follow trends or just focus on making tracks that feel right to you?

I focus on what feels right in my heart. Trends come and go so quickly, but my sound is about feel-good beats, catchy melodies, and messages that resonate on a personal level – blending Tech House, Latin House, and real-life stories. If a trend aligns naturally, I’ll embrace it, but I’m not chasing. Authenticity is what touches people and lasts, and that’s what I pour into every track.

What are your plans for this summer and what are you looking forward to the most?

Summer 2026 is looking exciting, more new music on Feels Like Home coming soon. What I’m looking forward to most is connecting with the fans – playing these tracks live, feeling that shared joy and energy. Thailand keeps inspiring me (hoping for more visits soon), but right now Europe is calling. Can’t wait to bring these good vibes and create more unforgettable moments together.
