Mathame introduce ‘Yogen’, a new chapter in their sound. A hypnotic, mantra-led club track inspired by Japanese culture, out today, May 1.

Mathame return with ‘Yogen’, a goosebump-inducing track crafted for the fans and the dancefloor, a new release that leans into their more direct, club-focused sound. Built with the dancefloor in mind, the track has already been circulating across recent sets, with early support at Ultra, Coachella and Factory Town.
Over the past years, the Italian duo have carved out a distinct space between emotional storytelling and club music, developing what they describe as EmoTech – a sound that blends cinematic atmosphere with functional late night energy. With ‘Yogen’, that balance shifts toward a more direct, dancefloor-driven sound, while keeping the emotion that defines their work.
At the center of the track is a looping Japanese mantra that runs through the production like a hypnotic thread. Used as a recurring motif, it reflects the brothers’ connection to Japanese culture and ties into the anime-inspired world they’ve been building. The title – Yogen (予言, meaning “prophecy”) – captures both the tone of the record and its place in that wider universe, hinting at what’s to come.

Stripped back but still expansive, ‘Yogen’ is designed to work in the room – something that’s already clear in the way it’s been played over the past weeks. It sets the tone for what’s coming next, with a series of remixes from major artists set to follow in the coming weeks.
The track comes as Mathame head into a run of shows, from EDC Las Vegas and Ayu Dayclub on May 16 to Marvellous Island and Brunch Electronik on May 23 & 24, after recently speaking at IMS Ibiza.
‘Yogen’ is now out today, May 1, on all streaming platforms.
About Mathame
Mathame, the Italian brothers Amedeo and Matteo Giovanelli, are pioneers of EmoTech – a movement where emotional storytelling meets futuristic sound and technology. Shaped by a background in classical music, hip-hop, and cinema, they create immersive productions that blend melodic techno with cinematic depth.
Their debut album MEMO introduced NEO, a monumental art project and narrative world representing a new ritual of sound and light. Its story unfolds through NEOLOGY, a parallel audiovisual show – a non-linear, anime-inspired film projected during their live performances. Together, NEO and NEOLOGY form a unified universe exploring the sacred, the futuristic, and the emotional.
With innovations like Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1 — an AI-powered project for Apple’s M1 chip that reimagined DJ mixing and evolved into a groundbreaking 3D live show — Mathame continue to blur the boundaries between music, technology, and immersive art. From their BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year to performances at Tomorrowland, Coachella, and Hï Ibiza, they stand as visionary storytellers.
