Interview With Sam Wolfe:

Hi Sam, Congrats on Fake Friends! Releasing on Space 92’s brand-new label TAKEOFF must feel special. What does this moment mean to you personally and professionally?

Space is a cool guy and a very nice dude who is hard working and deserves the best. For him to believe in my track and support it, is always a nice nod that you are doing something right.

You recently played at London’s Drumsheds alongside names like Adam Beyer and Amelie Lens. What was that experience like for you?

Playing at Drumsheds was a fun one, I took the opportunity to pay my respects to the London Techno crowd but still deliver a set that spoke to me and what I am feeling. The feedback was great, so I am very happy with that opportunity, and the stage itself is a masterclass in proper warehouse vibes done right.

Who’s the one artist you’d be most nervous to have standing behind you in the DJ booth watching your set?

haha, this is a funny question. I’m not sure , I wouldn’t be too nervous but I do admire the work of the greats like Carl Cox, Solomun, Eric Prydz, Adam Beyer etc; and then have to pay homage to the legends like Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atiks, Derek May, etc — all of the guys that paved the way so we could have a scene as big as it is now.

What’s next on your release radar? Any surprises you can tease?

Yes, I am doing a few releases with Oliver Heldens on both of his imprints, Hilomatik & Heldeep, and then more music with my good friend UMEK on his label 1605, and also a remix on Mau5trap, which will be a first for me.

You’re described as one of techno’s fastest rising stars. What drives you the most on this journey, and what’s the ultimate dream you’d like to achieve in your career?

I am just trying to make music that I think bangs in the club and is fun to listen to, and then play sets to entertain as many people as possible. I just want to give people a good time, a fun night out at a show and an opportunity to find some excitement outside of their normal day to do.

What do you love most about your work, how important is the support from your fans to you, and what message would you like to send out to them?

Without fans, there is no Sam WOLFE project – so I know that you have thousands of choices out there of other DJ’s you can follow and listen to.  But i appreciate all of the fans who are rooting in the background, even if it’s just a like on a post or a listen on Spotify. Giving a piece of your time to support the journey is what I appreciate most, and in return I aim to deliver as much high quality music and performances as possible & continue to up my game for my fans.
